What is Hypnotherapy?

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a future-focused, goal-orientated form of therapy that combines Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. It can help you to reduce your stress levels, develop a positive mindset and move forward towards the life you want to live.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a form of talking therapy designed to calm the mind and help people to overcome their issues. I use the Solution Focused model in my hypnotherapy sessions which can help you to reduce your anxiety, improve your self-confidence and take back control over your life. Solution Focused hypnotherapy does not dwell on the problem or issues of the past. It will help us to work together to:

  • Identify where you are now
  • Identify where you want to be
  • Help you to make the necessary changes to achieve your goals.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is when your mind is in a state of focused attention. This may sound like a complex process but in actual fact, it is very ordinary and something you may unconsciously do many times a day. Have you ever been really engrossed in a T.V programme or a book and completely lost track of time? If the answer to that question is yes then you have experienced a state of focused attention similar to what happens in hypnosis.

During the trance part of your hypnotherapy session, I will guide you into a state of focused attention. When in this relaxed state your subconscious mind is more receptive to suggestions. Those suggestions can be very beneficial as they are designed to help you to change your unhelpful thinking habits.

What hypnosis is not?

Hypnosis is not something that can be done to you without your permission or against your will. Nor will hypnosis take control of your mind. Simply put if you do not want to be hypnotised then you won’t be! Your willingness to engage in the process is one of the key factors in the success of your therapy.

What to expect at your sessions:

The initial consultation is a chance for us to meet each other and lay the groundwork for what your hopes and goals from therapy are. This will allow me to come up with a treatment plan so we can work together to achieve your preferred future. During the initial consultation, I will also explain to you how issues such as anxiety/depression etc manifest themselves in your brain, why you sometimes think/ behave in the way you do and more importantly what you can do to help yourself make the positive changes you want to make.

Follow up sessions will follow a set structure. Week by week I will explore what progress you have made and what small step forward that you want to take and how you are going to achieve it. We will then move on to the trance part of the session where you will be nicely relaxed while your subconscious takes on board all the positive suggestions/changes we have already discussed in the earlier part of your session.
